Gets Disconnected Randomly
Top 6 Reasons For Disconnections
1) Outlook express is hanging up after sending and receiving
| |
1) Open outlook or outlook express.
2) Click on "tools"
3) Click on "options"
4) Click on the "connection" tab
5) Uncheck "hang up after sending and receiving" and then hit "ok" |
2) Your phone/data line has call-waiting and another call comes in.
Fix = disable call-waiting by entering the disable code in front of the access number.
3) A bad phone line (do you hear static or other noise on this line when making a voice call?).
Fix = call the telephone company for repair.
4) Another device plugged into the same line (like a fax machine).
Fix = unplug all external devices including Y-splitters and other telephones.
5) A low-quality modem.
Fix = purchase a high-quality modem like the 3Com (formerly Sportster) 56K V.90 external modem.
6) Idle timeout. This is normal to prevent you from accidentally leaving your computer logged in all day/night.
7) Make sure that a surge protector is not connected in any way to the phone cord running between the modem and the wall socket. Unhooking a line from the surge protector should increase connection rates, stop disconnects, and improve overall performance. Important: You will have to remember to remove the phone cord during storms.
